Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

George Howard:[1]

It came to pass when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judah in the days of Herod the king, behold astrologers came from the East to Jerusalem,

Matthew 2:1

The Hebrew words behind KJV’s “wise men” in verse 1 are Strong’s H2335 and H3556, literally “a visionary, a beholder of, one seized or possessed by, the stars.” Thus either an astronomer or an astrologer.

Av 17-Elul 1

August 1-15,

Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

George Howard: [2]

saying: Where is the king of the Jews who has been born. We have seen (his star) in the East and (we) have come with important gifts to worship him..

Matthew 2:2

Although I believe that that which we generally know of as “the Star of Bethlehem” may well have begun as several somewhat different constellations as variously perceived by various observers at various times, I believe the planets Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury; the constellations Leo and Virgo; and the fixed star Regulus may well have constituted the key players.

Av 17-Elul 1

August 1-15,

14 BCE

Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

George Howard: [3]

Then King Herod called the magicians in secret and asked them well concerning the time the star (appeared) to them.

Matthew 2:7

The Hebrew word behind KJV’s “the wise men” in verses 7 and 16 is Strong’s H7080-1. This word appears 33 times in the Old Testament and 3 times in Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew. The most common translation in KJV is “diviner”, but “soothsayer,” “prudent,” “witchcraft,” and “divine sentence” are each used once. I believe “astrologer” may be included within the meaning of that word (cf H148.) Also a descendant of Chesed, a son of Nahor, Abram’s older brother. (cf. H3777-9.) The first instance of H7080-1 is found in Numbers 22:7. Propaganda makers, intrigue makers, gossip mongers, and hypnotizers should fit right in with this group. Yet, the use of this word in verse 7 could well be more a reflection of Herod’s character than of the people thus called.

They harkened unto the king and went, and behold the star which they saw in the East was going before them [stayed straight ahead of them; that is, it kept pointing (relative to zenith) in the same direction as the men from the east were traveling] until they came to the place. When they entered Bethlehem it stood over against the place where the child was.

(and/or: …it stood still while turning its face towards the place of its origin.)

When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

George Howard:[4]

They harkened unto the king and went, and behold the star which they saw in the East was going before them until they came to the place. When they entered Bethlehem it stopped before the place where the child was.

Matthew 2:9

- After midnight on Dec 24, 14 CE Jupiter stood still at the exact point of turning among the stars, that is, before beginning its retrograde motion back towards its origin. That point on the starry sky was located over the left shoulder of Virgo, that is, as if at the top of the child’s head while that child was nursing his mother Virgo, thus mirroring Mary holding baby Yeshua at her breast while nursing. Jupiter was located 50 degrees above the WSW horizon as the full moon was still visible while the sun was rising in the East at 6:58 AM local Jerusalem solar time.[5]

Kislev 14

December 24,

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

George Howard:

When they saw the star they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

Matthew 2:10[6]

 - Considering the astrologers awareness of the path of Jupiter among the constellations on the starry skies, is it any wonder they felt overjoyed when experiencing the double meaning they could perceive in heaven as upon the Earth?!

Kislev 14

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

George Howard:

They (came) into the house, found him and his mother Mary, knelt before him, worshipped him, opened their sacks, and brought to him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, that is, mira.

Matthew 2:11[7]

And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

George Howard:

Then they were commanded in a dream by the angel who spoke to them not to return to Herod; so they returned to their land by another route.

Matthew 2:12[8]

 - Could it be that the astrologers seeing both the Moon and Jupiter, the royal star, disappearing fast on the eastern and western evening skies while Mars, the god of war, was ascending on the Eastern skies was understood by them as a message from a heavenly messenger?

Kislev 15

December 24,

And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

George Howard:

As they were going, behold the angel of the Lord appeared unto Joseph (saying:) Arise, take the boy and his mother, flee to Egypt and stay there until I tell you, because Herod will seek the boy to kill him.

Matthew 2:13[9]

 - Could it be that Joseph perceived an angel of the Lord in seeing Mercury, the Messenger Star, rising and then quickly descending on the western evening skies while Venus was continually rising between January 8-22, 13 BCE?

Notice how the translators have been able to maintain, more or less, the original meaning throughout each and all of these four (I-IV) translations, while yet changing considerably the order of words, most especially in the Hebrew to Aramaic translation! All of the translations, however, have become somewhat ambiguous re which of the three sabbaths that is being identified, i.e. as specified in ST “-מה,” “after the [beginning...]” Cf. also Matthew 27:46 re the sequence of translations, and Matthew 26:17 re the words used for identifying the 1st vs. the 7th day of the Feast!

The most likely reason for these changes are no doubt the translators’ desire to clarify Hebrew concepts of time that are not immediately familiar to other cultures, languages, and people...

Notice: A word study reveals that קדם is better translated ‘at.’ The first NT usage of קדם is Matt 5:16. The corresponding Hebrew word per Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew is לפני, which word could be literally translated “towards [or before] the face of” (cf. Strong’s H6440.) Thus ‘at,’ as in “at the time of facing the feast of Passover” or even “at the time of the Seder meal.”

Per my current analysis 5925[(*??*)] 01 12 2029 [2013-04-21], this Sabbath #1 [of 8] placement of the Luke 6:1 event remains the most plausible, albeit no longer necessarily tied to the numbering of the courses of priests and Levites.

[13] :OEDZYEPKL @Z@E REYI ONZ ON IPYE

[14] This translation is based upon Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew, which Hebrew text I am convinced is a transcript, not a translation, of the original Hebrew text. However, please cf. also the words of the Syriac Peshitta, which word format is in the “emphatic state” with the intermediate “ד-” indicating either the genitive state or the Hebrew “אשר,” “that is…:” “the Day of the Sabbath” or “the day that is the Sabbath.”

[15] Notice that KJV is using the singular case, just as is also Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew. This seems to be an accidental correction in comparison to the Greek Textus Receptus version, which Greek version has retained the plural format of the Syriac Peshitta which is not present in the original Hebrew text, as evidenced by Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew. However, the Greek text has dropped the word “day” as found not only in KJV, but also in the Syriac Peshitta! Cf. also Luke 4:16 below!

[21] There are 19 instances of the Aramaic wordרמשאwithin the New Testament, out of which 7 instances are found within Matthew (Matt 8:16; 14:15; 16:2; 20:8; 26:20; 27:57; 28:1; Mark 1:32; 4:35; 6:47; 11:11, 19; 13:35; 14:17; 15:42; John 6:16; 20:19; Acts 4:3; 28:23. )

Of the 19 passages above, all except Matt 28:1, are translated, in the KJV, as either evening, even, or eventide! Why would Matt 28:1 warrant a different translation, i.e. except that the Vatican has a desire to fool the people in favor of their own agenda?!!

Also, within 16 out of those 19 passages one and the same Greek word is being used (ὄψίος – meaning “late; feminine (as noun) afternoon (early eve) or nightfall (later eve)” Strong’s G3798. Would make sense to me if “late” is a pointer to the last portion of the Scriptural day, i.e. before sunset, or at least before the stars become visible! Cf. its root G3694 – the back beginning a little after the head! That is, a little after sunset, but before full darkness, would seem likely?!) The exceptions are Mark 11:11 (ωρας - meaning ‘hour’;) Acts 4:3; 28:23 (ἑσπέρα – meaning ‘evening.’ Cf. “ἀστήρ” – meaning “star” Strong’s G792! Remember the Jewish emphasis upon the closing of Sabbath once three stars become visible!)

[26] Notice: The Greek word translated “morning” is “πρωιG4404.” This word means “before” and the corresponding word in the Syriac Peshitta is “צפרא” corresponding to the Hebrew word “צפר” which is mostly translated “bird,” or “frog,” but also “point” (Jer 17:1) or “early” (Judges 7:3.) Thus my translation in terms of “early, in good time before nightfall and in time for observing the New Moon crescent.”

[43] The Hebrew word, ”צפר,” corresponding to the Aramaic word of the Syriac Peshitta has the inherent meaning of ”a cutting edge; early,” that is, ”the cut-off point of a new day or a new month.” So also the Greek word ”γενομενης.” Cf. Notice at Mark 1:35!

[48] Noticing the context, which provides that a multitude of people followed him, it does not seem likely that this event took place later than on one of these two Sabbaths.

[49] Perhaps the date stamp of this passage, “μια των ημερων,” could be understood in terms of the First Day of the week, but I believe the more common designator for that day is ‘protae…’ not ‘mia...’ Nevertheless, the placement of this event within my four gospel synopsis seems to ascertain the date of this event to Elul 1, 16 CE [beginning at sunset Sat Aug 22, 16 CE.]

[51] Notice carefully!: The ruler of the synagogue is reacting because of this day being a Seventh-day Shabbat, and because it is the Day of Sabbaths! To Yeshua and to the Scriptural calendar the Day of Sabbaths always coincides with the Seventh-day Sabbath. Not so to the Jews, to them it may fall only on Day One, Day Two, Day Four, or Day Six, not on Day Three, Day Five, or Sabbath! Indeed, this particular year it fell on the Sixth Day of the week. Accordingly, and as best I may conclude, Yeshua healed this woman during that hour or so between the beginning of a new day and before the conclusion of the prior day. That is, after sunset [Friday night,] but before the time when three stars were visible on the evening sky.

[52] Cf. this link!

[53] Notice that in Luke 13:14, 16 KJV is perfectly reflecting the Greek Textus Receptus version, which Greek in this instance is using the singular and thus missing the understanding of this passage being a reference to the Day of Sabbaths, that is, Pentecost! Cf. Luke 4:16 above!

[72] Per John 7:2 Yeshua spoke these words at the feast of Tabernacles, apparently while giving reference to a past event at an earlier Pentecost Sabbath. I find no indication that the reference would be to anyone having been healed in immediate conjunction with the timing of those words of Yeshua.

Further, I find it interesting that the word “taber*” is found only once in KJV of each of the four gospels, and that in the Syriac Peshitta the Aramaic word “@LHNC,” translated ‘tabernacles’ is found only once in the entire NT. However, Matthew 17:4, Mark 9:5, and Luke 9:33 all use “OILHN” (found three times in the NT,) and the Hebrew “@LH” meaning “cover(ing)” (Strong’s H2921-2922) are all closely related.

[73] An important thing to consider here is this: What particular man is Yeshua here giving reference to? Is this a reference to either 1) the man with a withered hand, or 2) to one or both of the events recorded in Luke 13:11-21 and 14:1-6? Or else, 3) is this a reference to an event not specifically recorded in the Scriptures? It seems to me as though item #3 would be the easy cop out option, while item #1 doesn’t quite seem to fit Yeshua’s words “made a man every whit whole.” Furthermore, item #1 is an event that took place well over one year prior to this event, perhaps more than two years (if my present scenario [present scenario: ”5941[(?)] 09 15 2027 [2010-12-22]”; cf. this link] is in error on that point?) But if this is a reference to item #2 above, then my present scenario is in error, because I’ve presently placed the events of item #2 at the Pentecost following this event, that is, in the summer of 18 CE. If true, then either one or the other of these events would have to be corrected in my scenario. [Well, this discovery was the beginning of this revised scenario as improved upon this.]

[80] Textus Receptus Greek has “εν δε τη εσχατη ημερα τη μεγαλη της εορτης,”meaning literally “And in the day beyond the great [day] of the feast...” The Syriac Peshitta has “@CRCRC @IXG@ IDEZI@C @AX OIC @NEIA,” meaning literally “And in the day great, which is after the feast.” Cf. the Syriac “אחריא” vs the Hebrew “אחרונה” of Matthew 5:26 while remembering the Hebrew emphasis upon beginnings and exact boundaries.

[81] Based upon the NT and upon Josephus’ reckoning of time it appears to me as though at that time even the Jews reckoned the year as beginning with the Eighth Day Feast. Given that John is specifying the Jews’ feast in this context and not the default Scriptural calendar, it is likely that at this time the two calendars did not coincide. Cf. this link, showing that in that month and year the two calendars were one day apart!

[82] Textus Receptus is using “ἔσχατος,” which may well be translated “beyond.” The Syriac Peshitta is using “@IXG@,” which is much the same as the Hebrew “אחר,” meaning “after.”

[85] From the Hebrew “רב” meaning “increase, abundant” as in the embryo of a grain or seed (cf. Strong’s H7227, H7231! That is, the 1st of 50 days towards Pentecost, the Day of Sabbaths!)

Notice that the same word “רב” may also be thought of in terms of “ר,” ‘the head,’ of “ב,” the “house-hold,” thus also the Hebrew word ‘Rabbi.’ Cf. these pictograms of the ancient Hebrew Alphabet!

Thus, once again, the beginning, the head, of the counting towards the Day of Sabbaths, the 50th Day, Pentecost is this very day (John 19:31; per KJV: “an high day,”) that Seventh-day Sabbath which is always found as one among the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

How does this day relate to the out pouring of the Holy Spirit and the Latter Day Rain?

What does this inspired Writer have to share re this particular day and Yeshua Messiah / Jesus Christ, the First Fruits?

[94] Given that the exact same Aramaic term, “שבתא אחרתא,” is being used also in Luke 6:6 as in Acts 13:42, 44, I am inclined, based upon the context of each of those three passages, all of which are recording a single event that happened at one particular point in time, to perceive this term as a time reference to the latter portion of Sabbath, that is, the latter light portion of Sabbath which follows the earlier dark portion, i.e. the morning following the eve of the Sabbath, or, re Luke 6:6, two subsequent events within the light portion of one Sabbath Day. Given that both words in said Aramaic term are written in the singular case while following, in all three cases, the preposition “-L,” I would consider said term as pointing to “the ensuing Sabbath hours on the following morning,” etc.. Yet another outside possibility is that which is being suggested by Earnest L. Martin, “the between Sabbath,”or “the Betwixt Shabbat,” that is, as a special reference to the 24 courses of priests and Levites servicing the Temple (cf. this link, and also my discussion of said temple services under “I. The timing of John the Baptist’s conception and delivery.”)
