An EGW Quote Re the “Christ the first fruits,”
“His resurrection,” and “the wave sheaf:”
Abstract:
Notice that - according to the quotes below and provided the within study is not in error re the dates discovered - Christ was resurrected within the first 24 hours of being buried. He then remained a prisoner within the tomb until after he had been in the tomb a full 72 hours. However, nothing is being said within these quotes about “resurrection” not being a gradual process requiring the passing of time prior to completion and full arousal.
Please note that the Torah makes it quite clear upon an in depth study of the Hebrew language in certain specifics that the wave sheaf offering was supposed to be brought on Shabbat morning, not on the morning of the First Day of the Week [i.e. not on Sunday AM as commonly believed.]
EGW quotes:
Christ arose from the dead as the first fruits of those that slept. He
was the antitype of the wave sheaf, and His
resurrection took place on the very day when
the wave sheaf was to be presented before the Lord. For more
than a thousand years this symbolic ceremony had been performed. From the
harvest fields the first heads of ripened grain were gathered, and when the
people went up to Jerusalem to the Passover, the sheaf of first fruits was
waved as a thank offering before the Lord. Not until this was presented could
the sickle be put to the grain, and it be gathered into sheaves. The sheaf
dedicated to God represented the harvest. So
Christ the first fruits represented the great spiritual harvest to be gathered
for the
The night of the first day of the week [the words in bold font represent an exact KJV quote, but, according to the within study, would have been better translated ‘the Seventh Day of Unleavened Bread’; editors note] had worn slowly away. The darkest hour, just before daybreak[1], had come. Christ was still a prisoner in His narrow tomb. The great stone was in its place; the Roman seal was unbroken; the Roman guards were keeping their watch. And there were unseen watchers. Hosts of evil angels were gathered about the place. Had it been possible, the prince of darkness with his apostate army would have kept forever sealed the tomb that held the Son of God. But a
heavenly host surrounded the sepulcher. Angels that excel in strength were guarding the tomb, and waiting to welcome the Prince of life. {DA 779.1}

[1] Remember Hebrew time concepts! The beginning [as well as the end] of the day is sunset, thus ‘daybreak’ is certainly better understood in terms of ‘the beginning of the day defined in Genesis 1:3, 5…’ That is, considering the necessary revision of the concepts generated and instilled by the KJV, etc. translations… Notice also, that a careful study of the roots of the original language behind Mark 16:2, 9 indicates the following renditions:
Mark 16:2 TLT And, while the
lights and the shadows were ascending upon the hills, at the very beginning of
the Seventh Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, they
came unto the sepulchre at the setting of the sun.
