A Brief Outline

of Dated N.T. Events, and

of the Regnal Years and Dates of Roman

 Emperors and Rulers

from Julius Caesar thru Domitian

contributing towards a better understanding

of the timeline in the N.T.:

Abstract:

Once the year of the Passover of Crucifixion is established it becomes an easy matter to place many other events more or less firmly in time.  Under the guidance of Yahweh and based upon an 18 CE crucifixion, and/or upon 18± celestial events dated using astronomical tables, a number of New Testament events, various rulers over Israel and Judae, the War and the Destruction of Jerusalem, and also the Regnal Years and Dates of all Roman Emperors from Julius Caesar through Caesar Domitian, have been identified and dated. The complete details of this study may be found below this initial brief outline:

Miscellaneous New Testament events:

                                                                                I.      The timing of John the Baptist’s conception and delivery

- The course of Abia is the eighth course, or the eighth week of either the first or the second half of the year, skipping the weeks of the annual feasts when all the priests were to serve together. This, in the first semi year, should correspond to about Sivan 16 or 17 until Sivan 24 or 25, 16 BCE [May 27-June 3, 16 BCE.]

- John the Baptist was delivered at full term pregnancy around Tevet 14, 16 BCE [December 16, 16 BCE.]

II.      The timing of Yeshua’s conception and delivery

§         "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth," Luke 1:26 (KJV.)

§         The sixth month of the year ends at the beginning of the Day of Trumpets [which day occurred in 16 BCE on September 5/6 or October (4)/5, 16 BCE. (Cf. the Latin name Sept-ember: “Sept-“ means seven and “-ember” means month.)]

§         The Feast of Tabernacles, which is the third week in the seventh month, has strong associations with the making of a family, i.e. weddings, conception, etc.. The Feast of Tabernacles is the 15th through the 21st day of the Seventh Moon [September 19/20 or October (18)/19 through September 25/26 or October (24)/25, 16 BCE.]

§         Mary would likely have experienced the joyful event of quickening in her 18th through 20th week after LMP, which would correspond to the 1st week of Adar ± 1 week [February or March 1 ± 10 days, 15 BCE,] albeit more experienced mothers may recognize quickening as early as in the 13th week, which week would correspond to the 2nd week in the 10th Moon [the week beginning December or January 8, 15 BCE.]

§         Yeshua’s Expected Date of Delivery [280 days after LMP or 266 days (9 lunar months) after conception] would then be Sivan or Tammuz 15, 15 BCE, [June or July 12, 15 BCE.]

III.      The timing of Yeshua’s visit to the Temple in Jerusalem at age 12

- Yeshua was found by his parents at the Temple on the evening following the Third Day of the week, i.e. the beginning of the Fourth Day of either Aviv 28 or Aviv 27, 3 BCE [Tuesday night of either April 15 or May 13, 3 BCE.]

IV.      The Ministry of John the Baptist, and the Baptism and Temptation of Yeshua

- The calling and ministry of John the Baptist commenced some time after Tishri 1, 15 CE [September 3, or October 2 (or 3,)] 15 CE] and was concluded by the end of the subsequent Passover (cf. VI below,) i.e. by the end of Aviv 21, 16 CE [April 19, 16 CE.]

- Yeshua was baptized, and led into temptations, some days prior to February 18, 16 CE, (and definitely after September 3, 15 CE.) Quite possibly, Yeshua was baptized on Shabbat, Bul 15, 15 CE [November 16, 15 CE,] which day was not only a full moon, but also the day that Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, king of Israel, dedicated in commemoration unto himself. If so, then the last and fortieth day of temptations occurred on Kislev 25, 15 CE [starting Wednesday night December 25 and Thursday, 15 CE, i.e. beginning on Christmas Day.] Notice the associations between Yeshua’s last temptation, Thursday, and Ascension Day on the one hand, and on the other Yeshua’s last temptation, December 25, and Christmas Day!

                                                                              V.      The First Disciples being Called the First Time

- Yeshua likely called  Andrew and Simon on the Sixth Day, Kislev 26, 15 CE [Friday, December 27, 15 CE,]

- Philip and Nathanael were likely called by Yeshua, while on their way back home to Bethsaida from Jerusalem, on the First Day of the week, Kislev 28, 15 CE [Sunday December 29, 15 CE.]

VI.      The Marriage in Cana of Galilee

- Tuesday Aviv 3, 16 CE [March 31, 16 CE.]

VII.      The First Cleansing of the Temple by Yeshua

- The First cleansing of the Temple by Yeshua took place on, or a very few days prior to, Aviv 13, 16 CE [Friday, April 10, 16 CE.]

VIII.      The Beginning of Yeshua’s Ministry vs. the Beginning of the “Forty and Six Years”

- This conversation between Yeshua and “the Jews” took place immediately following the event under V. above, i.e. on, or a very few days prior to, Aviv 13, 16 CE [Friday, April 10, 16 CE.]

IX.      The Imprisonment of John the Baptist

- Josephus re John the Baptist

- A likely date for John the Baptist’s imprisonment is Aviv 22, 16 CE, i. e. that First Day of the week [April 19, 16 CE,] which follows immediately upon the Shabbat concluding the Feast of Unleavened Bread in 16 CE.

                                                                              X.      Meeting the Woman at Jacob’s Well at the city of Sychar in Samaria

- The meeting with the woman at Jacob’s well likely occurred “about the sixth hour” on Aviv 26, 16 CE, which is the last Fifth Day (of the week) within the month of Aviv, 16 CE [i.e. at noon, Thursday, April 23, 16 CE  (±3-4 days.)]

XI.      Yeshua in the Nazareth synagogue on the Day of the Sabbaths

*       The Day of the Shabbats - A synonym (?) used by Luke for Hag Ha-Shavout and the Day of Pentecost, which day was Sivan 11 or 12, 16 CE [Saturday June 6, 16 CE]

XII.      Andrew and Simon (Cephas) Called as Disciples a Second Time

*       The timing of this second calling is some time after the Day of the Shabbats, i.e. Hag Ha-Shavout, which was on the Seventh Day Shabbat, Sivan 11 or 12, 16 CE [Some days or weeks after the Day of the Shabbats, presumably, Saturday June 6, 16 CE?]

                                                                       XIII.      Plucking grain on Shabbat

*       Tishri 5 (or 6) [September 26, 16 CE.]

XIV.      Healing the man with a withered right hand

*       Tishri 22, 16 CE, (the Second or) the Third Day of the week [(Monday or) Tuesday October (12 or) 13, 16 CE.

XV.      Teaching the multitude at the seaside on “the First of those days,” or “on the same day,” and then sailing off into a storm while Yeshua slept (Matt. 12:1; Mark 4:1, 35; Luke 8:22)

- Shevat 1, 17 CE [January (18 or) 19, 17 CE.]

- [Thursday January 14, Friday January 15 if Herod used a Roman calendar, or, more likely,] Shevat 2, 17, CE [the evening of January (19 or) 20, 17 CE.]

XVIII.      Driving out the evil spirits named Legion in the country of the Gadarenes

- From Shevat 2 until before the Shabbat hours of Shevat 6 or 7, 17 CE [i.e. from January (19 or) 20 until some time before sunset on January 22, 17 CE.] .]

XIX.      Matthew being called the second time(?)

- Probably the Sixth day of the week, Shevat 5 or 6, 17 CE [Friday, January 22, 17 CE.]

XX.      Unsuccessful mission to Yeshua’s “own country

- Over Shabbat, Shevat 6 or 7, 17 CE [January 23, 17 CE.]

XXI.      Sending out the disciples “by two and two”

- The transfiguration event occurred on the Eighth Day following upon the Feast of Tabernacles, i.e. Tishri 22, 17 CE [After the beginning of Sabbath, Friday night after sunset October 1, 17 CE.]

XXV.      Was the blind man who was cured on Sabbath cured on the same Eighth Day which included the Transfiguration experience? And did the Transfiguration event take place on the Mount of Olives?

- Most likely the blind man was cured on the same Sabbath and within the same 24 hour day [October 2, 17 CE] upon which the Transfiguration event took place.

XXVI.      Yeshua at the Feast of Dedication

- Kislev 25, 17 CE [Friday December 3, 17 CE.]

XXVII.      Three references (Luke 13:1-4, 11, 16) to “eighteen” in the early part of the 18th Year of Tiberius: 1.
