Calendar of Events

From Yeshua’s Baptism Through

the Day of Sabbaths in Nazareth

-

A Study in Progress:

(Therefore, please forgive me for any errors, whether words remaining from past thinking and not yet corrected or thoughts of mine that are still suffering from being in error until somehow I am given additional rays of light!)

Abstract:

The table below is being created as an expansion of a detail within my table entitled ‘Scripture Feasts of the Years of Yeshua’s Ministry.’ That is, the summer events tied to Passover and Pentecost of 15 CE.

The prime Scripture foundation for the below tabulated scenario is the day of Yeshua’s baptism as evidenced by: 1) Yeshua’s most astute attachment to God’s own calendar as increasingly revealed to me by these Scriptural chronology studies of mine, 2) Mark 1:9 in the Syriac Peshitta, which provides “VeHo BeJamwt Hanwn” meaning “And those were the same hot days,” [Notice the emphasis!] with 3) a backdrop of John 11:55, and 4) with a backdrop also of Shem Tov’s Hebrew Matthew 12:9, which is pointing to the point of the beginning, “ketz,” of the hot season, “jamim” meaning “hot days,” (cf. Strong’s H3117,) which point of reckoning would seem most likely to be the beginning of the Counting of Omer, that is, the Seventh-day Shabbat within the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Given the fact of the Scripture calendar’s late placement relative to the seasons, and specifically, that the Scriptural Feast of Tabernacles events always fall in late October or even in November, and not in September as I used to believe, it does not seem likely that those words would have been used for referencing outdoors baptismal activities at that dark and cold season of the year. Nor does it seem likely that said point of beginning would be one and the same as the 1st of the 180 days being referenced in the Book of Esther:

Mark 1:9 TLT  And it came to pass in that same spring, that Yeshua came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.

Although the Greek translation (cf. the diagram below!) provides ‘hemera,’ day, the Syriac Peshitta reads literally:

Mark 1:9 TLT “And it came to pass that in those same hot days came Yeshua from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in Jordan by John”

Additional considerations:

Luke, along with Matthew, Mark, Acts, Revelation, and probably at least some of Paul’s epistles were almost certainly written in Hebrew before being translated first to Aramaic, and then from Aramaic to Greek. [6] Luke 4: 9-13 KJV:

9  And he [the devil; Satan] brought him [Jesus] to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10  For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11  And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12  And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13  And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

[7] John 1:19-28 (KJV w. font edits and bracketed comments by TLT © :)

19  And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? [Fifth Day, beginning Wed June 5, 15 CE; the last day before New Moon visible]

20  And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21  And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

22  Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23  He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

24  And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

25  And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

26  John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

27  He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28  These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

[8] John 1:29-34 (KJV w. font edits and bracketed comments by TLT © :)

29  The next day [the morning of Day Six] John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

30  This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

31  And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32  And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33  And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the oly Ghost.

34  And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

[10] John 1:35-42 (KJV w. font edits and bracketed comments by TLT © :)

35  Again the next day after [on Sabbath morning, Sivan 2] John stood, and two of his disciples;

36  And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

37  And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38  Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

39  He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

40  One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

41  He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

42  And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

[11] John 1:43-51 (KJV w. font edits and bracketed comments by TLT © :)

43  The day following [on the morning of Day One, Sivan 3] Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

44  Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

45  Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

46  And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

47  Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

48  Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

49  Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

50  Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

51  And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

[12]  John 2:1-11 KJV:

1  And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2  And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3  And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5  His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6  And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7  Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8  And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9  When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10  And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11  This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Considerations re possible placement of the marriage in Cana within the week of, and prior to, Pentecost:

1)       Yeshua and his disciples would not necessarily have been at the wedding from its inception on the 3rd day…

2)       The distance from across the Jordan to Cana in Galilee is about 70 miles as the crow flies, and could have been hiked in a day or two by Yeshua and his disciples…

3)       Re Yeshua’s 40 days of fasting: Shem Tov’s Matt 4:2 uses Strong’s H6684 meaning “to cover over (the mouth), that is, to fast.” He did not likely fast without water… The Greek translation in Luke 4:2, “εφαγεν G5315  ουδεν G3762,” translated into English as “eat nothing” (KJV,) are likely a translation derived from the Hebrew word “rishon” meaning “foremost” (cf. Strong’s G3762, G1520, & H7223.) Thus, ours may well be a misunderstanding of original Hebrew words meaning “did not eat the best,” or “did not eat very well.” Thus, Yeshua’s fast would not necessarily have been strict enough to require a prolonged recovery period afterwards, if, indeed, any at all.

4)       Who was getting married? Could it have been Simon Peter, the one disciple whose wife is being referenced on several occasions in the New Testament? If so, and given that Simon was Yeshua’s 1st disciple, and called while yet in Judaea only on this last Sabbath prior to this particular 3rd Day here being considered for a marriage in Galilee, it seems quite unlikely even impossible that Simon Peter would show up that late or that rushed prior to his own wedding… Nevertheless, I believe that very likely this wedding could have been Simon Peter and Mary’s wedding. Cf. this link!

5)       A much more typical Jewish wedding would have taken place at the Feast of Tabernacles. I believe that the Feast of Tabernacles is the most likely placement for this event, albeit the field of time is quite open for this event from Sivan 5, 15 CE through Abib 3, 16 CE. Cf. this link!

[13] Notice that Yeshua’s words “this day…” is a reference to “acceptable year of the Lord…” as portrayed specifically by the Day of Sabbaths, that is, the Day of Pentecost upon which day these words were being read by Yeshua out of Isaiah 61:2:

Luke 4:16 KJV  And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Luke 4:17 KJV    And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

Luke 4:18 KJV  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Luke 4:19 KJV  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Luke 4:20 KJV  And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

Luke 4:21 KJV  And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
