Who Will ’Give Birth’?

Singular? Why sg. m. rather than sg. f.?

Seems to me that the one Bible answer is found in Gen 2:24 “and they shall be one flesh.” Thus including both male and female, both Joseph and Mary – as One dual singular!

What is a Correct Translation of Hebrew Isaiah 7:14?

Present, Past, or Future tense?

יָלַדְתָּ

and

הרה

All Bible translations I’ve read uses future tense for Isa 7:14, so how is it that Google translate and the grammars that I find indicates

past tense (2^nd person, sg. m. or f.) for יָלַדְתָּ: ‘has given birth’, ‘gave birth’;

and either present (imperfect) or past tense (perfected) for: ‘is pregnant’, ‘became pregnant’, ‘conceived’?

Past tense (2^nd person, sg. m. or f.):

Notice also that in the Genesis genealogies, יוֹלֵד, imperfect (present) tense is consistently being used, Gen 5:3; 6:10; 16:11; &c! Should this be a reminder to each of us that the birthing process is an ongoing thing? Yes, even as though each of us are still within, and part of, those ancient ancestors of us! As also in the concept of a ‘new birth experience’…

הרה

Present tense (= imperfect!) sing., or past tense (perfected) 3rd sg. m.

(Cf. Shmuel Bolozky, 501 Hebrew Words, p. ??? – I don’t find it!)

Clearly, Isa 7:14 is written using this word, הרה, in the 3^rd person format. Thus, past tense would be the correct translation for Isa 7:14, not present or future tense as in most or all extant translations!
