Aviv
Barley Found
Hebrew
year to begin with new moon on March 21, 2015
On March 15, 2015 we headed out for a preliminary Aviv
Search. We ended up finding Aviv barley at five locations, three in
the Northern Negev (Tel Gamah, Gamah Junction, Mishmar Ha-Negev) and
two in the Jordan Valley (Tel Malkoach and Nachal Talkid). The barley
at Mishmar Ha-Negev was 6-row domesticated Aviv barley. All the rest
was 2-row wild Aviv barley. The photo at the top of this message
is of 2-row wild Aviv barley at Gamah Junction in the Northern Negev.
More photos of Aviv barley at the other four locations are posted at:

This means the next new moon expected (barring clouds)
on March 21, 2015 will mark the beginning of the Hebrew year.
Assuming the moon is sighted on March 21, the Feast of Unleavened
Bread will run from sunset on April 4 until sunset April 11, 2015.
Shavuot will fall out sunset May 23 until sunset May 24, 2015.
Shanah
Tovah!
Happy New Year!
