Words are inadequate for me to express my gratitude to our God for allowing me to be part of this family. I have been daily blest by reading the book of Esther. What a woman of beauty she is. I pray that we will be given her beautiful attributes. And also that man of God modercai. I pray that our men will be given all those very much needed manly godly attributes. This world would be a better place even as we await the return of Jesus. Christ. And then it's the beautiful inspiration that only Adventists have. See how much I have learnt about the story of redemption from the book of Esther!!!! Non Adventists donot have as much knowledge as we have. We also have the blessed spirit of prophecy Am truelly blessed to be part of this family. My prayer is that my life will be changed. Thanks for sharing
I loved this study of Esther ~ she became so alive to me....and I am kind of sad to leave her behind. I am excited, however, to meet Job and gain new insights into his life and character. Blessings to my worldwide family!
It was a real blessing to study Esther again - and especially nice to have this community forum to post our thoughts and discoveries. It is a solemn thought to know that this story will be replayed in the very near future and God's people are called to stand for the truth like Mordecai and Esther.
I read a short article from Signs of the Times, February 22, 1910 that clarifies the true issues in these last days:
History will repeat itself. In this age the test will be on the point of Sabbath observance. The same masterful mind that plotted against the faithful in ages past, is now at work to gain control of the falling churches, that through them he may condemn and put to death all who will not worship the idol sabbath. {ST, February 22, 1910 par. 9}
Our battle will not be with men, altho it may appear so; we war "not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against wicked spirits in high places." But if the people of God will put their trust in Him, and by faith rely upon His power, the devices of Satan will be defeated in our time, as signally as in the days of Mordecai. {ST, February 22, 1910 par. 10}
My earnest prayer is that we all will put on the armor of God TODAY and boldly stand for Him in this trying hour!
Amen. History will repeat itself. We have nothing to fear unless we forget where we are coming from
Amen
I thoroughly enjoyed reading and studying the book of Esther with everyone. Praise God that no matter how bleak a situation may appear, God looks out for His people when their hearts are in total submission to Him.
"Today as in the days of Esther and Mordecai, The Lord will vindicate His truth and His people" PK 606.
Thank God for perfect Jesus. Our hope, our example, our perfection. His word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our part.
Thankyou Sis Jean for your ministry to us throughout the book of Esther..I am thankful we can see she was bought through a very difficult time and she retained her integrity throughout it all ..I pray that she was able even unconsiously to have influenced her husband to the thought that ...the God of Heaven whom my wife worships and believes in ..IS a prayer hearing God ..Wont it be wonderful to talk to Esther in the Kingdom made new ..may we be as faithful when we experience challenges in life that effect those we love and influence those around us ...may all in the RBHW family be blessed today..
Good morning RBHW family I am truly blessed by this daily words and comments everyday, God is working in everyone's life to bring about change and growth toward the return of Jesus for eternal life with Him. Please pray for me and my family we need a closer walk with God and between our family members. May God richly bless and keep everyone here on the RBHW family posting safe. Have blessed day
I think the greatest lesson I learned from the book of Esther is one of faith. Oh that I may have that same faith, a faith so strong that I will not even fear death. Lord Jesus, You know my weaknesses so well. You know how sinful I am, and yet You continue to shower Your blessings upon me and this whole RBHW family. In spite of all the bad things I do, the bad decisions I make, You still reach down and lift me up. Jesus, there are simply not enough words in my language to say how much I love You and how wonderful and great is Your power and strength. I thank You from the bottom of my heart for Your mercies, Your forgiveness, for dying of the Cross to save a wretched soul like me. I pray that my faith will always remain strong and that everything I do will reflect Your character. I ask You today to remove this ugly self from me and replace it with Thy Sprit. I want to thank You for Your Word which gives us these wonderful lessons and examples to follow. For through Your Word alone is the light to the path that leads us home to You. You a my strength, Jesus, and without You I am nothing. Please stay with me and keep me in the palm of Your Hand. Amen.
I love the book of Esther, for braveness and faithfulness, even if the name of God wasn't mentioned, it could not have been denied that He was directing Esther and Mordecai. It also reminded me of going from rags to riches, but not forgetting where you come from, and remembering those that helped you on the way. Most of all putting God first in all we do. He promised never to leave us or forsake us. Mordecai always had the people in mind and spoke up for them. We as children of God are to speak up for God and not be intimidated by others and what they think of us, always representing Jesus in all we do, say, and act. Thank you RBHW Family have a great and blessed day.
I also want to thank God for giving me a wonderful, loving and God fearing Mother, Miriam, who celebrates her 86th birthday, today. Happy Birthday, mom. Love you. Peace & Love.
Amen. It's time to get ready for the book of Job. :)
Amen. The Lord has taught us a lot of lessons through this journey together in the Book of Esther. May His Name be praised.
In the book of Esther, we came across four main characters; Esther, Mordecai, Haman and King Ahasuerus. Although the book is named after the queen, the central character is Mordecai whom Haman envied and wanted to destroy. Mordecai sought the good of his people and spoke peace to his countrymen (vs. 3). The theme of the great controversy is played out so vividly throughout this narrative. Satan's wrath is directed at Christ because he envied Him. Although he is also angry with the church, the woman, his ultimate target is Jesus. Through the controversy, even though the highlighted character seems to be the church, the one who is ultimately exalted is Christ. He will be exalted and will sit forever at the right hand of His Father. I am thankful for Jean's thorough blog on the book of Esther, and I pray that the Lord continues to enrich our spiritual lives as we continue this journey though His Word.
thanks all for your encouraging words. Please keep many of our faithful pastors in your prayers. Sometimes, things happen without explanation and we just wait to see God's hand in action. It is a matter of reviving our faith to go through the stories of the brave isralites, such as Esther annd Mardochai, and see how God delivers at the end. Please pray for our church and for those of us who patiently wait for God to show his mighty hand.
God has good things in store for those who are faithful to him. There will be happy ending for the people of God. All the trials and tribulation that we go through on a daily basis in this sinful world will be totally be forgotten the moment we receive our reward from Jesus. God's people will be vindicated. Have a bless day RBHW family. Looking forward to the book of Job.
Speaking of our God showing up... Yes indeed. We were blessed to have one of our beloved sisters, Jean, to comment on the Book of Esther. Isn't our Savior wonderful to orchestrate even the smallest detail in our lives. Praise God for the inspiring and precise blogs. We all have learnt from them and may we (1) Stand like the brave, (2) Worship only the Creator, (3) Be our brother's keeper and (4) Include fasting and prayer in our times of dire need. May God bless you and family Jean, and all the RBHW family.
Good morning everyone. I must again express my sincerest thanks for REVIVED BY HIS WORD, WHAT A BLESSING. If I am to take away anything that would have made an indelible mark on my mind from this Book it would be: 1. Sin not only affects the sinner, but others too. Haman the Agagite wasn't he a decendent of those God told Saul to completely destroy approximately 500 years before. How am I paving the way for those who will come behind? 2. There is no record that the Persian record of the history of men exist anywhere. But the Word of God will last and last. 3. What I do for God will promote me now, ensure blessings on others and guarantee my eternal security. What l do for the devil will prove my eternal demise. Frankly speaking l don't want to be great, just want to be faithful. Sincerest blessings to my family for a good day and for eternal security.
Good morning my RBHW family. When we surrender all to Jesus and make ourselves available to be made instruments that can be used in the cause of God, He will do so with us. We are at the crucial point of earth's history and any moment now probation will close, let us patiently wait on the Lord by walking and talking with Him every waking moments so that Eternity will not pass us by.
Oh how Jesus loves us! Reflecting on the courage of Esther, the disciplined lifestyle is a must. We must surrender to complete obedience to the Word of God. I think back to how a great Aunt and Uncle took me in and taught me the Bible at an early age. I thank God for He does all things well. Obedience is better than sacrifice any day. Let our hearts rejoice as we await the coming of our King.
Amen
Good morning family members!
I have been truly blessed and motivated since joining this site a few days ago.
I am grateful for the commentaries shared by Jean and value deeply her analysis she makes. The blogs are also inspiring and thought provoking.
I love the energy from my newest family and hope to learn more from you as we begin our study of a most admirable character - JOB.
Have a productive and God - filled day!!!!
Please pray for me as I prepare for my final exam on Thursday.
I pray that God will give you wisdom, knowledge and skill in all learning and understanding . He's the resource of all knowledge. Amen. Peace & Love.
Good Morning my RBHW brothers and sisters! I enjoyed this journey through Esther and have learned a great deal from Jean and your observations/comments. I thought it odd that God is not mentioned in this book, then I remembered a statement from a sermon I heard from Pastor Leclaire Litchfield several months ago: "Sometimes, God just shows up." He was referring to the day after the crucifixion when two men walked away from the cross and Jerusalem towards Emmaus. They were joined by Jesus, but did not recognize him. They were discouraged and defeated in their own mind and headed back to their normal lives, but little did they know that the Creator God walked beside them and opened their eyes to the truth from all of the Bible. After Jesus gave them a thorough Bible study on himself, their eyes were opened and they saw Jesus where they had missed him at first. They turned around and headed back to Jerusalem to find a resurrected Jesus and victory! All because Jesus "just showed up."
This story is similar in that both Esther and Mordecai were apparently defeated and discouraged, but "God just showed up." There were no prayers recorded in either story, but "God just shows up."
We serve a Father who desires to give good gifts to His children. If we make Him our delight, He will give us the desires of our heart and our prayers will be more about praise and worship and less about a checklist of requests (Psalm 37). If we seek Him first all the other things will be supplied. Our charge is to be less religious and more about learning of Jesus and following his words. Make no mistake, however, that we should make our requests known to God and understand that we receive not, because we ask not or because we ask amiss. The more important thing is to know the heart and word of our great God than practicing dry formality. "If you don't see the hand of God at work, trust His heart."
Now on to Job, one of my favorite books of the Bible! God bless you all as you seek His face this day!
"Then God Showed Up." I love it. Thanks for sharing Bro Eddie.
Wonderful thought that God moves and will show up, not becused you prayed or did any good work , but because he loves you and he knows when you need His prescence. This is to in now way minimize the power of talking to God, but rather to demonstrate the love and care of our Father who has always been motivated by this love that we can't seem to get our mind wrapped around.
Thankyou for sharing Eddie ..it is wonderful to experience the encouragment as we talk about the Chapters each day...We can see how the Holy Spirit..has worked all through the situations that have been in the life of Esther that has been recorded for us ..Gods name was not mentioned but He was there influencing the outcomes and giving Esther and Mordecai the needed wisdom ..let us never doubt that our God IS by our side in everything and guiding us..Hebrews 13:5..Let your conduct be without covertousness; be content with such things as you have .for He Himself has said "Iwill never leave you or forsake you...have a BLESSED day Family
Yes...my point is that God is there and His work is evident whether or not He is specifically given the credit/praise or not. Those who are unbelievers refuse to see and recognize the working of God, but whether they believe or not, He is there even in their unbelieving lifes.
As Christians, we sometimes may think God is far away, but He is right beside us walking that discouragrf/disapointed road to Emmaus. When we hear his voice and recognize Him, our hearts burn within us and we turn around and head back to the victory of the ressurected Lord.
Amen and AMEN ..What a TREMENDOUS blessing ..to KNOW that the God of the UNIVERSE walks by our side in all we do ...MINDBLOWING.....Thankyou Jesus for saving a wretch such as I was and would be without the Holy Spirits CONSTANT encouragement ....blessings Eddie..
Amen Sister. Blessings to you too!
You said there were no prayers in the book of Esther. True, there were no recorded prayers, but the people fasted and prayed for three days.
Good point...It is just not as obvious as the other books we have read. Have a God day! :)
Praise GOD ,thank you for sharing, I love the fact that sometimes,HE,GOD just shows up,my prayer is that we as a family will truly commit our lives so when we face difficult moments we too will be able to experience HIM just showing up. Have a blessed day.
Amen Desiree.
Amen my brother and friend. Have truly enjoyed your comment. Our God is a God who shows up yes, He is so stubborn in loving us and we must be stubborn in having faith in Him. And I would like to encourage all who doubt with their faith with Romans 10:17 - faith comes by hearing the Word of God - therefore by reading the Bible and meditating in it and asking questions about it to the Holy Spirit and researching on it. There is more power in listening to God (through reading the Word) when we pray than in talking to Him when we pray because He knows what we need. Therefore I want to join you in saying how much I have enjoyed studying the book of Esther together with my RBHW family. I have been blessed with a renewed faith! God bless you all.
My brother and friend, thank you for your thoughts each day. I am blessed when I hear them. Romans 10:17 is a verse I use often in sermons or Bible studies. More word of God = more faith. Little word of God = little faith. No word of God = no faith. This is almost a direct quore from a sermon I heard many years ago. This verse is more about just hearing sounds or reading characters on a page that is bound up in a book we call the Bible, it is about reading and hearing the voice of God from these words in such a way that there is understanding in what is being said and it is applied to the Christian experience in order to cultivate faith or trust in God. It is hearing instructions, examples, commandments, and promises about how to come to a place where one trusts in God more than anyone else. Here is peace. Here is joy.
"Your words were found and I at them. And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart. Jeremiah 15:16
Amen
Amen. God is always showing up on time to help His children when all seems lost and gone. Let us just remain faithful and obedient to the end.
Amen Errol! My desire too!
hallelujah, what a journey:)
Amen Adrienne!
Amen!! I dont know about all of you, but I cannot wait to meet Esther someday. To spend it talking about all of what she went through for our Father and her people. I know eternity at times can be a bit hard to fathom, but I know I will need plenty of time to spend with each person I am learning about as we walk through the Bible! I cannot wait!!! Thanks again Jean for your words. It has been a blessing and reminder for me in my daily life. God can always manage to give me words each morning to remind me to give my all to Him..I am so thankful for such a patient loving Father as He guides and molds me to be less for me and more for Him. Not my will be done, but His will be done! =) May God bless each of you this morning as you start your day with Christ.
Jeremiah 29:11
New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Amen and amen.Praise GOD.
Sis. Jean what a wonderful commentary you provided for us throughout our study of the book of Esther. I was truly blessed! May God continue to use you as a blessing to his people. My sincerest thanks.
Thank God for humble servant leaders like Mordecai and Esther. If you know someone who serves with faithfulness and humility, send him/her a note of appreciation. Make a phone call and say "Thank you." Pray for men and women like Mordecai and Esther who honor God and serve others rather than being preoccupied with their own selfish desires and ambitions. By the grace of God, I want to be such a leader! Do you? Let's pray for each other today!
