Scripture Texts and
Re Being Struck Dumb
While in a Vision Received
by Ellen Harmon in
the Late
Spring or Early Summer of 1845
A
small group, however, having cut loose from church creeds and church
discipline, maintained their purpose to find their guidance in God’s Word
alone. They patiently awaited the dawning of light,
that they might gain a true understanding of their position and work.
These became the spiritual forebears of the Seventh-day Adventist
Church. {WV 28.7}
A card was held up before me, on which were written
in letters of gold the chapter and verse of fifty texts of Scripture.
[References are listed.] After I came out of vision, I beckoned for the slate,
and wrote upon it that I was dumb, also what I had seen, and that I wished the
large Bible. {1BIO 91.1}
I took the Bible and readily turned to all the
texts that I had seen upon the card. I was unable to speak all day. Early the next
morning my soul was filled with joy, and my tongue was
loosed to shout the high praises of God. After that I dared not doubt or for a
moment resist the power of God, however others might think of me.—Early Writings, 22, 23. {1BIO 91.2}

And, behold, thou shalt be
dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be
performed, because thou believest not My words,
which shall be fulfilled in their season. Luke 1:20. {EW 24.1} |
|
·
This passage reminds me of Luke 1:5 and the foundation of Zacharias’
experience. That is, the fact that Zacharias was acting as the representative
of the course of Abia, which was the eighth course
(1 Chr. 24:10,) which course began with the 50th day of the
Counting of the Omer. More… |
Fr |
·
In particular, I notice also the angel’s emphasis upon
proper timing, that is, per his words “shall be fulfilled in their season.” |
|
·
The fundamental fact that the number of Bible texts given
Ellen in this vision was 50 makes it easy for me to associate the overall
message of this vision of hers with the 50 days of the Counting of Omer, and
most especially to the 50th day, the Day of the Sabbaths, Pentecost. Adding
to the fact the fact that the first of the texts given her also is focused
upon these 50 days of Counting the Omer and upon the importance of proper
timing seems quite significant to me. |
|
·
Perhaps there is a most special message to each of us that
identify ourselves as Seventh-day Adventists?!!! How is it that we have
failed so long to recognize the importance of keeping all of the Sabbaths
defined for us per Leviticus Chapter 23? Could it be that this is a reason
for our failure to bring our message to very many in the Western world? Seems
to me that people are not hearing our words. As if we are dumb, that is, in
consequence of a cause very similar to that of Zacharias and Ellen… Perhaps that
may change once we begin to believe the message of the eternal words and
directions given us in the Word of God!!! |
|
·
This experience of Ellen took place during the late spring or early summer
of 1845 CE, that is, very likely at the very time of the 50th
day of the Counting of the Omer, that is, at the very same time that
Zacharias had his experience in 16 BCE, exactly 1860 years before Ellen had
hers! Cf. Yeshua’s words per Matthew
24:32! |
|
·
As to the word “dumb,” well, I see a certain parallel with the
number zero… |
1 |
All things that the
Father hath are Mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of Mine, and shall
show it unto you. John 16:15. {EW 24.2} |
|
·
Amazing! To me this text reminds me of Hebrew accession time
reckoning. That is, item #0 above is reckoned as belonging to the last item
within the prior king, or, as here, to Yeshua’s Father. Item #1 is the first
item reckoned unto the successor: “Mine.” |
Sa |
·
Interestingly, I came to begin considering this passage only
after discovering that there is a #0 Scripture text belonging unto this set
of 50 Scripture texts! That certainly is not Roman or Latin type reckoning,
is it? Cf. the item numbers in the left column! |
|
·
As to item #0, consider how uniquely these words of Yeshua
describes that principle: “He shall take of Mine, and shall show it unto
you.” |
2 |
And they were all filled
with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit
gave them utterance. Acts 2:4. {EW 24.3} |
|
·
Now, if this passage isn’t a 50th day event, I
certainly don’t know what is!!! |
Su |
·
I seem to feel as though there is a most definite need for
the Holy Spirit to install a new understanding of Hebrew and Scriptural ways
of reckoning time. How apt the words to that effect: “began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” |
|
·
As with the Seventh-day Sabbath, so with the remainder of
the Creator’s own appointed times: Let’s learn how to reckon time His way! Why
is it that we have forgotten how to honor our Creator by using His own
calendar and His own way of reckoning time? ·
I believe the answer to that last question of mine is simply
that the one and only way of learning our Creator’s reckoning is by means of
carefully studying the Scriptures for each our selves,
as did the Bereans, and then to carefully apply that which we learn! All
things need to be tied back to the ultimate beginnings, lest we soon be
doomed to suffer the natural consequences of the game of whispering, the tool
of the great Traducer, the gossip monger above all… That is, the consequences
of each our own willing contributions towards that end! |
3 |
And now, Lord, behold
their threatenings: and grant unto Thy servants,
that with all boldness they may speak Thy word, by stretching forth Thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be
done by the name of Thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place
was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the
Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with
boldness. Acts 4:29-31. {EW 24.4} |
|
·
These words are a record of an event that took place on the
day following the 50th day of the Counting of Omer, which day fell
on “Sunday July 2, 19 CE… Gregorian time” More… |
Mo |
·
Peter and John had been apprehended by the local authorities
at the end of the 50th day and were at this point given an opportunity
to witness before these people who had been charged with the responsibilities
of administering the people who chose to delegate the responsibility for themselves and of their families unto another power, unto
another “god…” Cf. Acts 3:1; 4:3. |
|
·
Here is a lesson for each of us to emulate into our life.
Peter and John did not allow themselves to be intimidated by the threatening
of the local “authorities!” Cf. Acts 4:19-21. |
|
·
The Holy Ghost is willing and able to guide God’s willing servants,
sometimes quite forcefully through doors that are being opened before them
and closed behind them: § So it was for Peter
and John per the record of Acts 4:3. § So it was for Ellen
Harmon. § So it was for me. § Cf. Rev 3:7-8; 14:8;
18:4! |
|
·
“I saw that Jesus had shut the door of the
holy place, and no man can open it; and
that He had opened the door into the
most holy, and no man can shut it (Revelation
3:7, 8); [see page 86. See also appendix.] and that since Jesus has opened
the door into the most holy place, which contains
the ark, the commandments have been shining out to God’s people, and
they are being tested on the Sabbath question.” {EW 42.2} ·
“I saw that the present test on the
Sabbath could not come until the mediation of Jesus in the holy place was
finished and He had passed within the second veil; therefore Christians who
fell asleep before the door was opened into the most holy, when the midnight
cry was finished, at the seventh month, 1844, and who had not kept the
true Sabbath, now rest in hope; for they had not the light and the test on
the Sabbath which we now have since that door was opened. I saw that Satan
was tempting some of God’s people on this point. Because
so many good Christians have fallen asleep in the
triumphs of faith and have not kept the true Sabbath, they
were doubting about its being a test for us now.” {EW 42.3} ·
Why would this test not apply also
to the annual Sabbaths, given as they are as a blessing to God’s own people “for ever?” Cf. Exodus 12:14, 17, 24; Leviticus 16:29, 31;
23:14, 21, 31, 41…! |

Give not that which is
holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample
them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Ask, and it shall be
given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
for everyone that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or
what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a
stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall
your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye
even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew
7:6-12. {EW 24.5} |
|
·
It takes the wisdom and insight of God to know the
difference between a pretender and one who is indeed a genuine and honest
seeker for the true pearls and values of the Creator: § To what extent am I
myself not prepared to accept the truth as clearly set before me in the Holy Scriptures? § To what extent am I
not willing to accept the evident truth inherent in these fifty texts that
were given to Ellen Harmon more than 153 years ago? Cf. the 153 fishes
referenced in John 21:11! § To what extent am I “sitting
in the seat of the scornful?” Psalm 1:1 § To what extent am I
one among the dogs and the swine referenced above? |
Tu |
·
To what extent am I willing to claim my rights (and
obligations) as a Son of God? § As did Peter and
John per Acts 4:19-21… § As did Yeshua… Cf.
Rev 14:12 § Per Exodus 20:2-3! § Per the reprimand of
Yeshua to Peter… Cf. Matthew 17:26 § To what extent am I
willing to heed the message of Jonah and the king? Jonah 3:8 |

Though the road may seem long, more than 50 steps, more than
50 days, yet I will place myself securely in my Creator! Where else is
security to be had in real terms? Or is redemption in terms of worthless
paper money more valuable than my own life, my own family, my own time, my
own strength? |

As ye have therefore
received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: rooted and built up in
Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been
taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you
through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the
rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:6-8. {EW

·
Item #7 in this list!: Notice the emphasis upon falling back
upon the ultimate origins of the Creator! I am thinking of “rooted… stablished… thanksgiving… Christ…” Truly a pertinent
thing to point out on any and all “sevens” being celebrated within the Day of
Sevens, aka. the 50th day in the Counting of Omer. That is, as
specifically emphasized re the Seventh Day Sabbath in the 4th
Commandment: “Remember...!” ·
Thus yet another indication that this set of “50 texts” is
being built upon the theme celebrated by said Day of Sevens, Pentecost! |

effectively suppressed for close to 100 years by such men as are willing to

after the rudiments of the world…?” |

Also, before getting out of bed in the morning, I was
reminded that my dating of the Passover of the crossing of the Jordan needs
adjustment due to the two pole shifts since that event. Praise the Lord for providing
for me my “roots” and for “establishing” me in our Messiah who is teaching me
all! ·
Well, as it was, that adjustment was already complete, but
more importantly, it brought me, belatedly, the message that my mirror

Cast not away therefore
your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of
patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the
promise. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will
not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, My
soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto
perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Hebrews

Yes, counting and keeping in mind the numbers of the days
towards the 50th day may require some “confidence” and “patience.” |

Likewise, I must not forget to patiently and with confidence
keep on training my eyes towards an ever more perfected vision… So far the

far as my multiple images that I’ve been seeing all these years since my eyes
were burned by the intense sunshine atop Mt. Ararat in 1974. |

For he that is entered
into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Let
us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same
example of unbelief. For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper
than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and
spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and
intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:10-12. {EW 25.4} |

adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of

Finally, my brethren, be

His parents answered
them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: but
by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who
hath opened his eyes we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for
himself. These words spake his parents, because
they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did
confess that He was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. Therefore
said his parents, He is of age; ask him. Then again called they the man that
was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this Man is a
sinner. He answered and said, Whether He be a sinner or no, I know not: one
thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. Then said they to him
again, What did He to thee? how opened He thine
eyes? He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear:
wherefore would ye hear it again? Would ye also be His disciples? John

And to the angel of the
church in Philadelphia write: These things saith He that is holy, He that is
true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth,
and no man shutteth; and shutteth,
and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I
have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it; for thou hast a
little strength, and hast kept My word, and hast not denied My name. Behold,
I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are
not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy
feet, and to know that I have loved thee. Because thou hast kept the word of
My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall
come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come
quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Him that
overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of My
God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of My
God, and the name of the city of My God, which is New Jerusalem, which cometh
down out of heaven from My God: and I will write upon him My new name. He
that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the
churches. Revelation 3:7-13. {EW 30.2} |

To me this is yet another reminder of the three day limit
set upon the determination of claims of jurisdiction as clearly being
recognized even in the courts of man… The keys, for instance, to each and
every prison of man! |
Tu |
·
I surely wish this principle was being made more widely
known to all! To the ends that none of us should be so easily fooled by the
intimidators and by the “authorities” that are elected, not by God, but by
each man for himself!!! ·
Notice the words “the hour of temptation…” |

And I looked, and behold
a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on
His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. And another angel
came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him that sat on the
cloud, Thrust in Thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for Thee to reap;
for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And He that sat on the cloud thrust in
His sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. And another angel came out
of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp
sickle. Revelation 14:14-17. {EW 31.2} |
|
·
This Bible passage reminds me of the three day rules
generally being used for determining whether or not jurisdiction belongs to
one or unto another. Which angel with a sickle, out of the two, owns the
right of claim unto which portion of the harvest? |

Am I truly such a “Son of man” as is recognizing my own

It makes a lot of sense to me to place the foremost month of
the year, “month number one,” in the midst of the year. That is, the month
that is being used for always maintaining God’s own calendar in tune with the
annual seasons. That is, by means of the aviv, the
ripening of the barley. |

Who is our Father’s Bride if not “the People of God?” What a

And
I looked, and lo, a Lamb stood on the Mount Sion,
and with Him an hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father’s name
written in their foreheads. Revelation 14:1. {EW

·
A long time ago I remember tracing the roots of the word ‘Lamb’
to the word ‘word.’ As the words within the Word of God… |
Fr |
·
The word ‘Sion’ I believe
signifies a ‘monument.’ Perhaps on the order of a ‘light house.’ As in
Genesis 3:24, the “flaming sword,” the Word of God, that is established once
and for all for the purpose of directing each our attention towards the road
back to our Origins, and, more than that, towards our Creator and Redeemer. |
|
·
To me there is a lot of meaning in this simple thing: 12 x
12 x 1,000 = 144,000. ·
In other words: Multi-dimensional discipleship and learning
under the guidance of God, YHWH, the Aleph (aleph = God, Family of God,
1,000, learning, teaching…) |
|
·
What a blessing to be allowed to focus intently upon our
Father’s name at all times. ·
What a blessing for each one of us to be allowed to identify
ourselves in terms of no other name than that of our true Creator! Blessed be
His names, each name (or “ours”) unto which our Creator is given a clear
title! A title not being clouded by any other claims of ownership, or
trusteeship, in consequence of each our choice of delegating authority, and in consequence of each our choice of IDentification… |

And
he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of
the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on
either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve
manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the
tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse:
but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and His servants shall
serve Him. And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their
foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle,
neither light of the sun; for the Lord giveth them
light: and they shall reign forever and ever. Revelation 22:1-5. {EW

The reference, in today’s Bible passage, to the leaves of
the tree of life, reminds me of the Green Smoothies I been learning more and
more about since last fall, and which have come alive in a very special sense
beginning with spring and the abundance of greens that is springing up all
around me at this time. What blessings! |

May that light of the Lord, our Creator, continue to become
ever more predominant among all the various sources of light between which we
may choose these days! |
